Mick is an enthusiastic Learning and Organisational Development professional with over 30 years’ experience working in the public sector and 15 years’ experience as a trainer.

Mick joined Citation in 2017 after 4 years as a Care Quality Commission Inspector, two years of which he spent training 600 new CQC Inspectors.

Mick has sound knowledge of the care sector, learning and development, equality and diversity, cultural change and the ability to translate complex legal guidance and procedures into practical easy to follow solutions. “I have a passion for people
and organisational development to raise performance and improve care services throughout the UK.”

He worked at East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service for 7 years as the Equality and Diversity Manager, trained all 900 staff on a two-day equality course and supported senior managers with the cultural change agenda.

He also worked at the Child Support Agency as a trainer and Executive Officer and prior to that worked as a National Insurance Inspector at the Department of Work and Pensions.

Mick is a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (MCIPD), a qualified coach (CMI Level 5) and won the Communities and Local Government Individual Award for “Leadership” for his work with the disabled community in 2008.

Heather Edwards

Music Mirrors

Heather Edwards studied music before teaching and lecturing at the University of East Anglia (1980-2014) and  Cambridge, Madingley Hall.  She is an honorary researcher with NSFT and UEA.

In 2012, having developed a neuro-rehab singing model for people living with dementia she founded the voluntary organisation Come Singing to carry this work forward and  now leads over 20 groups monthly in Norwich for Age UK, NSFT, NHS, Barchester, NorseCare and other organisations.

Music Mirrors arose from this experience and is a response to the need for people to retain their individual voices, memories and identity even when words fail.

Christine Futter is a registered social worker with the HCPC and procurement professional who has worked over 30 years within adult social care. She began her career with Norfolk County Council as a Home Help Organiser in Norwich. Christine then trained as a social worker for older people and qualified as a Procurement professional responsible for managing domiciliary care contracts and tenders, before taking up her current role eight years ago as Chief Operating Officer of Norfolk and Suffolk Care Support.

 

Norfolk and Suffolk Care Support is a not-for-profit, information, advice and guidance company and lead contractor with Skills for Care for Workforce Development Funding distribution.

Christine currently sits on a number of the Sustainability and Transformation workstreams including, Local Workforce Action Board, Stakeholders, Enhanced Care in Care Homes and End-of-Life Care Boards. She also sits on the Skills Board of the New Anglia Local Enterprise Partnership for health and social care, contributing to the skills agenda for the Norfolk and Suffolk economy.

Nadra Ahmed OBE

Chair of National Care Association

Nadra Ahmed OBE has been Chairman of NCA since 2001. She has been involved in the field of social care for over 35 years and until 2005 was the Registered Manager of two private care homes for older people, having developed and run services since 1981.

Nadra has served on numerous government task forces and she was the Vice Chairman of Skills for Care for 11 years having been appointed at its inception. Nadra is a trustee of Parkinson's UK among other charities. She is the Deputy Lord Lieutenant of Kent and a Kent Ambassador.

In 2006 she was awarded the OBE for her services to Social Care. She is a regular contributor to journals and a speaks national and international conferences throughout the world. She is also regularly called upon by the major media networks to represent the views of social care providers. Nadra is driven by a desire to ensure the delivery of quality services to the most vulnerable members of our society. She works across a number of government departments which have an impact on the social care world giving evidence and expert advice to parlamentarians.

Jennifer Bute

Dr Jennifer Bute, lives in a Dementia inclusive retirement village.  Previously she worked in Africa as a doctor then as a GP for 25 years involved in medical education.  She resigned early as she realised things were not right, and was diagnosed with dementia nine years ago.  She passionately believes more can be done to improve both the present and the future for those living with dementia. Helen Stephen

DUET diabetes 

RGN, Dip HE, BSc, MSc, AET (Level 3)

A Registered Nurse and co-founder of DUET diabetes Ltd, Helen has spent many years working as a Diabetes Specialist Nurse (DSN) in the NHS both as a clinician and as an educator. In her current role as a Community DSN, she works closely with GPs and Practice Nurses as a mentor to help them provide high quality care to patients in their locality.

Claire Gilbert

Claire Gilbert is a Learning & Development Social Care Consultant who’s name has become synonymous with developing and delivering innovative and highly effective approaches to experiential learning in the filed of dementia care, leadership and quality improvement. 

 

Claire is also an Associate Lecturer at the University of East Anglia and Bradford University.  Claire is probably best known for leading the highly successful Care Coach programme for the Norfolk & Suffolk Dementia Alliance, her work extends to clients as diverse as: Norfolk County Council, Clinical Commissioning Groups, NNPC, East of England Co-Op, National Trust; and The Norfolk & Norwich Hospital to name a few.

Claire has amassed a wealth of hands-on experience of social care and is passionate about the delivery of compassionate, person-centred care.  Driven by her vision to ensure that excellence in care and support is appropriately recognised and rewarded, Claire was a co-founder of the not for profit Norfolk Care Awards which is now entering its sixth year of delivering the highly acclaimed Norfolk Care Awards Gala Award Ceremony.
